FANG is a term used to refer to a group of giant U.S. Internet stocks. The term was coined by connecting the initials of Facebook (SNS), Amazon.com (mail order service), Netflix (video distribution service), and Google (search engine). The term has been used in the U.S. stock market since around 2015 to refer to a group of companies that have the potential to significantly change our lives and industrial structure through the use of information technology and big data. Facebook, founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg, a Harvard University student, has become the world's largest social networking site; Amazon, founded in 1994 by Jeff Bezos, a Princeton University graduate, has become the world's largest e-commerce site; Reed Google, world-famous for its search engine, founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, both of whom were at Stanford University, will continue to be a force to be reckoned with.
